National Disability Institute (NDI) envisions a society in which people with disabilities have the same opportunities to achieve financial stability and independence as people without. April is National Financial Capability Month and the perfect time to celebrate that vision.
Since 2004, when the Senate passed Resolution 316 designating April as “Financial Literacy Month,” financial and educational institutions, nonprofit organizations and others have created campaigns and promoted initiatives to highlight the importance of financial stability.
For many people, talking about finances can be uncomfortable, even upsetting. However, avoiding the topic prevents you from taking control of your finances. For Financial Capability Month 2019, through NDI’s “Let’s Chat” campaign, we want to encourage you to talk openly about your financial well-being. Feeling overwhelmed? Feeling like you need some help? Do you have a question, but are too afraid to ask? That’s okay. Let’s chat.
Join NDI throughout the month of April for some candid conversations about finances. We’ll give you some easy ways to start difficult conversations. Check out our new and improved website for financial resources – webinars, videos and more. We’ll be sharing blogs with personal stories and experiences, as well as useful tips to help you get your finances in order.
Join the conversation on Facebook (NationalDisability) or on Twitter (@natdisability) by using the hashtag #LetsChatFinCap.
