In Empowered Cities: Financial Empowerment for People with Disabilities, a new blog published by Citi and written by Bob Annibale, Global Director, Citi Community Development and Inclusive Finance, and Michael Morris, Executive Director, National Disability Institute, Tracy McKnight is introduced. Tracy lives in a constant state of financial vulnerability. She has to balance earning a decent income without jeopardizing her access to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Tracy is not alone as only one in three working age adults with disabilities are employed.
Under Empowered Cities and EmpoweredNYC (the first local program of Empowered Cities), Citi Community Development, National Disability Institute, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, the New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and the Poses Family Foundation will work to advance the financial capability of individuals with disabilities through engagement and education.
