National Disability Institute believes in equity in all its forms – be it economic, racial or health equity. We stand in solidarity with the disability community to build a more inclusive and equitable future for all people with disabilities which includes self-determination, freedom of choice and the fundamental right to make decisions regarding their bodies.
While we acknowledge this decision will affect millions of Americans, people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations will be disproportionately and negatively impacted in their ability to access comprehensive and accessible health care.
As we approach the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, let us renew our commitment to ensuring “equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities.”
This is a time for looking forward, not backward. Our work begins now.
