Biography
Katie Metz is a leading advocate for financial inclusion and disability rights. As the Director of the National Disability Institute’s (NDI) Financial Resilience Center, she empowers individuals with disabilities to achieve financial stability and independence. The Center offers online resources and assistance to help individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions manage their finances, build resilience, and navigate life events that may impact their income or savings. Metz recently assumed oversight of NDI’s Disability Inclusive Financial Counseling Initiative. This initiative aims to promote financial equity for individuals with disabilities by training financial counselors to be more inclusive, increasing access to tailored financial counseling services, providing and fostering a collaborative network of ongoing support and referral partners.
With a passion for bridging the gap between disability and financial opportunity, Metz has dedicated her career over 20 years to providing accessible resources and support for persons with disabilities, military personnel, veterans, and their families. Her expertise in financial education and counseling, asset development, and ADA compliance has been instrumental in creating a more equitable financial landscape. Her efforts span both government, nonprofit and private sectors.
Prior to her role at NDI, Metz served as the Manager of Disabled Services and ADA Coordinator for the City of Jacksonville, where she gained valuable experience in public sector disability advocacy. Her commitment to social justice and her understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities have shaped her approach to her work.
Through her leadership at NDI, Metz continues to drive positive change by helping individuals with disabilities build financial resilience, navigate life transitions, and achieve their financial goals.
