Shelby Vasquez is a Project Coordinator within the Financial Empowerment division at NDI. She started her career with non-profits working at a humane society, eventually transitioning to leadership within the organization. With a strong desire to facilitate programs in which humane societies and incarcerated individuals partner in a mutually beneficial relationship, she transitioned to a career with the Department of Corrections (DOC). Within DOC, she learned first-hand the connection between incarceration rates and disability. With a new ambition, she joined the Louisville Office of Financial Empowerment team after a move to Kentucky. While there, she developed further knowledge of the disparities within financial wellbeing and disability. With additional drive, she knew that the disability world was where she needed to be. With over 10 years of applicable experience, she is proud to be a part of the equity driven mission at NDI.
